Everyone’s running marathons and jogging in fun runs, and, never one to let travel impede my recreational activities, I decided to do a walk here in Slovenia: The First Annual Lisa Findley Lazy Lake Day 5K. I finished in the top five and even got a prize for it. I can definitely recommend this approximately 5 kilometer trail to you if you’re ever in the Lake Bled area.
First, I made sure I was in the right gear.
Then, I took a look at the competition.
And I was off!
Soon it was time for a lunch break while contemplating the rest of the course.
At about the halfway mark, everyone took a dip to incorporate some light triathlon training.
I admit I got a little distracted by the views.
After only one lunch break, one swim break, and one reading break, I easily made my target time of 4 hours. Time for a prize!
If all 5Ks were like this, I’d be a champion.
I feel so ignorant because I had no idea that Slovenia was this beautiful. This blog post alone could double their tourism rates!
Haha, yeah, I should get commission!
One of your funnest posts yet! And, good thing you didn’t try to pocket a cygnet … swans are usually wicked aggressive!
Swans are, in the words of my future sister-in-law, evil beasts.
What an absolutely magnificent 5K you … um … performed. Way to go, Lisa! Your photos are fantastic – it’s true – most of us had no idea that Slovenia was gorgeous, has only one island, and has castles, beautiful flowers and trees, and water to sun by. Hmmmmm – tempting!
Definitely worth a look when you’re back in Europe.
oh, Lisa, I adored Lake Bled love your 5K of course I had the same reward, even though I didn’t walk the 5K:-)
Did you do any of the hikes up the hills for a view? I thought that sounded like far too much work, so I had a cream cake instead. 🙂
I missed out on Lake Bled when I was in Slovenia (although Esther highly recommends it). What a beautiful, beautiful place. You’re so lucky to have been!
Yes, and if you do head back to Slovenia, my friend recommends the next lake up, Bohinj, even more strongly.
